The fact sheet says this is 'normal bongo behaviour': gearbox not wanting to change up into top, after startup on a cold morning.
Does 'normal' mean that it's ok and I should just drive round the block a few times before hitting the dual carriageway, or does it mean it's a common bongo problem that needs fixing??
I've checked the ATF levels using the suggested method, and the level actually reads at the bottom of the twist on the dipstick - about an inch and a bit above max! ....But I've had the bongo for 5 months, done a fair few miles and it's not caused me any problems until now.
The fluid's nice and pink and clean, with no crap in it. Does anyone know how much, in volume, an 'inch and a bit' would translate to? - I'm going to try to suck it out using a syringe and tube, and what would be the implications of having an overfilled box anyway?
any advice welcome.

All autoboxes need the tranny fluid to warm up before the torque convertor can lock up in top gear. Still curious about the level though. It's done at least 3000 miles like that.

If it's that high (after measuring it on level ground, warmed up and idling in "D") then I'd drain some off. Too high will cause the oil to froth and glaze the clutch plates in the 'box

hmmmm...
the fluid on the dipstick did appear to be a bit bubbly. Will get on it tomorrow.

It won't warm up any quicker driving around the block, in fact it will probably take longer and just waste fuel.
Get out on the Dual Carriageway and it will soon warm up and lock up.
That's what I do, it doesn't do any harm.

I've sucked mine out with a pella/pealler/peller (never can rember how to spell it) pump. Works great.
