BMW clock

Post by monfluffy1987 » Sat Oct 25, 2008 5:56 pm

Hi Guys,

I have just bought a BMW clock for my Freda. Firstly, thanks to Hadyn, the unit itself is perfect, and the blue backlight looks awesome!

I've now wired it up, after spending ages finding the correct feeds from the battery (!) and it works perfectly, lights come on with the dash lights as it's meant to.

Just one question -the actual unit doesn't properly sit in the slot in the centre console. It fits in the top one (where the CD player is) but not in the bottom? I thought it was meant for the bottom slot!

Anyone else found this to be a problem? Is it because mine's a FREDA and not a BONGO?

Unless I'm doing something obviously wrong, I'm going to have to take a file to it and file down the retaining clips on the clock... Can someone please advise? Maybe someone has a picture of theirs fitted?

Many thanks!

Mine fitted fine. In the bottom slot. I angled it in from the top then I managed to push it in. Hope that helps.

No difference in Freda dash Moonfluffy.

Mines in the top slot but is a tiny bit squished up. I think I should've taken a file to the unit connecting tabs to get a smoother fit. Someone will be along with the difinitive answer soon.

For a proper fit I had to "adjust" the little tabs that hold it in place, admittedly mine is fitted in the top slot, but as it is not built to go into a bongo, it will probably need a slight adjustment

I found I had to trim a little off the tabs. I also fitted in the top.

The stereo should fit in either slot, BTW

Somtimes a little fileing off the lugs makes a better fit. It will go in with patience.

Aha - suddenly I can access the forums from work again ??? Very odd....

Anyway! thanks for all of your responses, and for the instructable.

I'm going to file down the clips and see if it works!

I used a modeller's scalpel to "nibble" a slither off each plastic lug till i got a nice neat tight fit.
