Re: anyone fitted one of these?
You would need an actuator for the drivers door as it only sends to the central locking,, not expensive
Re: anyone fitted one of these?
Haven't fitted the same one as this but they are all of the same muchness. It doesn't mention a door motor which you need to fit to the drivers door locking mechanism. Not difficult and most of these dealers sell them anyway for about a fiver.
Must admit remote central locking is a bonus on a Bongo when you've got kids to shepherd around the Bongo.

the bongo central locking is slightly different to normal in it only works from the drivers door not both front doors.
thats why the need for the extra actuator

I bought a hawk alarm system off ebay; it required an actuator to lock the other doors. The alarm / immobiliser kit I bought alongside the actuator comes with a LCD remote control unit that allows remote locking / unlocking and starting. It displays and vibrates when the alarm goes off and has a range of upto 1km. I had the sensitivity set too high when at work and was able to cancel the alarm whenever the fob started bleeping, even when I could not hear the alarm going off.
The whole lot came to about £70 - the support from the company is excellent.

Contact Hawk alarm for their actuator.

Our Bongo has factory fitted remote central locking, with an original Mazda key, so it doesn't just work from the drivers door.
BUT if you do use the key, you can only lock it from the drivers door
I'm sure various other cars I driven over the years have had non-remote central locking that only worked from the drivers door?

May be better going for this - http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=12303 - from Maplins, then if there's a problem, you've got some come back & you can sell or pass on the actuators you don't need

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Re: anyone fitted one of these?
i think i have a spare actuator in my shed if you want it, but they are not that expensive.
Lost without my Bongo.
Re: anyone fitted one of these?
I found the rod for the actuator i got with mine too short & a fiddle to try and install..
I raided my mums house for some an old school heavy duty wire coat hanger & used that to fashion an actuator rod that didn't fowl the window winder, which i attached at the top just under the drivers internal lock button!
It made fine adjustments to the CL mechanism a doddle..

At the risk of being told to 'bog off' hoggman, I'd focus on those tappet followers and put other expenditure on hold. Reason is you'll ultimately feel worse if you invest in it in other ways while remaining unrelaxed about the central problem. Once the central problems is resolved (and I'm sure it weil be) you'll feel really good about investing in it in other ways.

Re: anyone fitted one of these?
hi,
i changed the oil from 5/30 the other day,to 20/50,and it does actually sound a bit better.i think i`ll keep a close eye on it and take it easy.i have an accident claim being paid out shortly, and it should be around £2000 or maybe more.the idea is,if i can find a competent and trustworthy local mechanic.i`ll happily spend a grand getting it done.
thanks

Re: anyone fitted one of these?
hi all i got my new bongo last week and got the kit shown in the first post above thinking that everything needed was included(being impulsive i didnt check here or read the fact sheet first
)so it seems i need an actuator before it can be fitted,
firstly do i need 1 for all the doors (as they seem to sell them in kits of 4) or do i only need one for the drivers door.
secondly would i be able to get one from halfords or do i have to order one from somewhere?
finally (sorry to ask so many questions) do i need a specific one for my kit?
