Stainless Steel Exhausts - any recommendations please

I'm looking to get a new exhaust & it's probably worth spending the extra to get a stainless system. There are quite a few suppliers such as Longlife & MJD (?) & I was wondering whether anyone has experience of these, or any other recommendations please?

I'm not looking for a boy racer sound, but a quiet sporty hum would be very acceptable. I have seen someone on the forum with twin tail pipe setup that looked quite tasty, but I'm not sure how it mounts as there is no hanging bracket on the drivers side.

I am getting a full system on the 11th from Longlife (Hayes) the back box fell off of mine on Sunday. I too am not looking for the boy racer sound just long life as i intend to keep the camper for a few years.
I have been quoted £350.00 fitted. This seems steep but gone are the days of me going under a motor to do it and they are the only ones I can find near me to do it.
This will be custom made while it's there it takes a few hours.

I will let you know the score when I return.

simon try a company called powerflow they make the system while you wait
make it as loud or timid as you want
give you a lifetime warrantee as long as you own the vehicle
and charge around £250 - £300

our stainless jobbie was from longlife in leeds 329 fitted with a lovely purr to it.standard pipes with standard tail.gives a better noise but slightly noiser inside the van

This took from 10am to 3pm to make they took great care to to make this and did a cracking job.
It was a franchise of longlife style dynanmics in hayes.
No real difference in sound or performance put peace of mind and I think it looks better.

Looks great BB, that's something you won't have to worry about for quite a while... You won't see any significant gains in performance with a free flowing exhaust on a diesel, as opposed to a petrol,if you feel a replacement exhaust has gained some horsepower,then the baffles had most likely started to collapse in the old silencer,causing a restriction.

Now get the autosol out and give your pipe a rub!

Of course! I'd forgotten about duraglit If memory serves me correctly,the blue/silver tin would be more suitable than the orange tin.

Not a full system, just the backbox,but the rest of the mild steel standard exhaust appeared to be in "as new" condition...I hope

considering it displays your number plate for all to see should think it warrants more than a discount dolly i'd kick off may be some mileage in it anyway gonna get my v6 done in near future does it drone on the motorway dolly i do fance a big jap pipe like BDC's tho

Hi Cheffy, no droning noticed...In fact, it seems as quiet as the original, with maybe a little bit of a roar at peak torque,but not to an unnaceptable level...
