Speedo fitters

Post by grantcourt » Sun Oct 12, 2008 3:13 pm

Anyone know of an expert in fitting the speedo conversion kits so that the speedo shows mph rather than kph?

Ive bought the kit but not confident to fit it myself

Thanks

????, you mean you have bought a mph clock? (GA5R), if so its a dodal to fit, just take the old one out and replace with the new one, just a case of undoing the screws and unclipping the wire conector block from the back and putting back together.

edit.........if you bought the complete set ie with all 3 clocks in the dash, do not replace the whole unit with your bongo one, you will blow the fuses, you just change your kmp for the mph one!

I'm looking for one of those too. Been looking at some on Ebay, but they always go for more than I can afford at present.

I have been trying to find a scrappie with one for sale, but all the scrapyards I used to know have gone.

My speedo is already converted using a chip on the back, but I want to replace the complete speedo head with a GA5R one, which reads in MPH originally, as the chip on my speedo is unreliable.

I'll keep trying to find one in a breakers yard, but if i can't at a reasonable price, then I will just have to put up with it. All it means is that every so often, when I start up and drive off, the speedo doesn't work and the hold light flashes. When it does it I just stop, switch off the ignition, re-start, and all is fine again. It's been doing it for a couple of years now but it's not worth spending a lot of money on it unless it packs up altogether.
