Teenmal:- No, the brake fluid was used, not for cleaning, but to fill the cylinder in the dashpot, and with other modifications, allowed the system to lift quicker. It was an old trick recommended by the tuning Guru of modifying BMC "A" series engines in the 60s, Clive Trickey.
I've owned many minis, most of them modified, but that was part of the fun.
Back to dampers....is there an identifying mark stamped into a damper to show whether , or not, they a gas damper, or oil- filled?

Hi Helen,dont know about marks,a lot of gas(nitrogen)shocks also have oil in them.If this helps.

Hi John,was only kidding, I can remember 10 year old tests(I was a tester).It went from 10 to 5yrs.
