can`t remove rocker cover.anyone available for`live`help?

Post by hogggman » Sun Oct 12, 2008 12:39 pm

hi all,
as per a previous post,i`m removing my rocker covers to investigate my tappetty engine.i`ve removed all of the nuts that are on the rocker cover, and two on the end that go through the timing belt plastic cover, but it won`t budge.there are rubber or plastic washers(inserts?)on each stud.do these need`unscrewing`to get the cover off?it reminds me of a nissan sunny i did the timing belt on a couple of years back if so.only problem is,most of these insrts are spinning and not seemingly unscrewing.help!
thanks

Don't know about the Bongo Jamie, but sometimes they just stick around the gasket - a sharp sideways thump with a piece of wood usually breaks the seal.

just try spliceing in between the rocker and head with a wallpaper scraper or something thin and firm, just to break the seal, other than that i wouldnt know

got the cover off and noticed a rough piece of casting on the right hand side near timing belt end.it was a piece of the bit that bolts the camshaft down, that was completely missing!this worried me greatly.where were the missing piece/pieces?then i looked at the underside of the rocker cover and it`s stuck to that.the stud came away with the broken bit,so that will be securely bolted to the rocker cover when it`s all back in place, and the camshaft mounting bit is still secure,so i may be ok if i`m lucky.a bit of sealant between the broken bits perhaps?
how do i put pictures on here?i could post pics to show you what i mean.
