Hi
I am new to this forum in fact new to any forum, so Hello to everyone out there.
My vehicle is a 1995 diesel Bongo.
My problem is an electrical pulsing when the engine revs are brought up (does not seem to happen at tick over)
the lights and the fan go up and down. The battery is not loosing power and starts OK.
I know that the alternator does not charge at tick over so I am guessing this might be the culprit unless
a heavy load is switching on and off.
Any help would be appreciated I live on an island and do not have access to a garage!

Hi Kenny, looks like your battery is a bit low, does it do this after a good daylight run?
Can you check the voltage in the battery?
Mal..
Ps my Niece lives on Barra.

Hi Mal
Know Barra well my dad had a factory there in the sixties.
I will check battery level but I think it is OK.

Re: Pulsing Fan and Heater!
Hi,
Always worth checking the earthing plate on the side of the engine. Lift the drivers seat and look for an earthing plate just above the glow plug rail, on the left. Mine was loose when I got my van at first and I had pulsing scavenger fan and similar symptoms to what you describe. If you can't locate it, post back and I'll take a picture and point it out.
Hope you get it sorted.

Re: Pulsing Fan and Heater!
I've been to Eigg a couple of times. Is the Shearwater still running from Arisaig or has the CalMac taken over?
Knowing Eigg isn't that big at all (3 x 5 miles iirc), it might be that short runs aren't enough to replace the juice taken out of the battery by starting and it may need an overnight charge periodically. But you say it starts OK? Strange. Mine had similar symptoms when the battery was on the way out
