Fan resistor
Can someone tell me where the fan resistor is located? Many thanks in anticipation
Re: Fan resistor
From memory, It under a black plastic cover in the middle of the front bonnet area - next to the fusebox. There's a good factsheet in the members area - worth joing the club for that alone!

Thanks all. I have the fact sheet about "Resistor Problems" but its not that clear about location. Says its near the fan engine which means little to me.

Re: Fan resistor
lift the bonnet dead centre of the bonnet there is a drain hole in the gutter between the wipers, plastic box directly under the drain hole, by the way if the drain hole is blocked this causes the resister fan to go faulty. as water flows over the gutter onto the resister box.

Lost without my Bongo.
Re: Fan resistor
or water gets into the fan motor itself, seizes the bush and knackers the resistor. When fixing the resistor also check that the fan spins freely - remove the air intake cover etc to check. If it doesn't spin freely it's WD40 time.

Re: Fan resistor
How right. I've come to think that - far from being more worrying than owning a standard car - owning a Bongo is less worry because there is such a good collective knowledge on here (including some skilled professional mechanics) about the car and the particular problems it is prone to (and all cars have their problems). And diagnosing the problem is usually rather more than half of finding the solutiondavylaa wrote:Thanks again all. I'm so glad I joined this club.

Re: Fan resistor
Hi
Thanks, DBO, for reminding me....I've just gone out and poked my drain clearing wire down the overflow....I do this regularly, and we've got torrential rain forecast for a few days here...in fact it just started as I was doing it,
Cheers

In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.
