Rear air con/heater fan

Post by muddypaws » Mon Sep 22, 2008 10:52 am

Well, everything in the front works fine.

The rear however, nothing whatsoever!

DH has checked all fuses and they are all fine. There is power to the switch in the front which you flick to turn the rear 'on'. But still nothing. Anyone know where the relay is hiding please? :D

Have you got the front fan turned on? I don't think the rear works without it, but I'm not 100% sure as I've never used my rear heater.

Also the rear heater master switch to the right of the steering wheel and below it on the dash.

Digital heater controls or manual? The digital version has a 'rear' button & green light on the main unit, whereas manual has the seperate switch as mentioned.

Hmmmm. Has it been seen working before in your ownership? Is your a kitchen conversion Bongo, as some converters remove the rear heater assembly.

Failing all that, then its down to systematic testing. Is it a climate Control system or the simple aircon system?

My hubby is an air con engineer so I'll get him to post later as he knows what he's talkin about! :?

Its all there....the whole kit and caboodle...its a simple air con system. Just no air coming out of any of the vents cos the fan doesn't come on! :?

Mine hasn't ever worked either, but since it's just the two of us I'm leaving it.

I guess you have to get a multimeter on the case and see if power is getting through to the fan etc. Also, what fuse might it be that looks after the rear fan. Did you say it was working before?

Hi
If there's power everywhere, then the fan is goosed....not a hard job....I did mine....same symptoms...If you need instructions, just ask
Cheers

In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.

Sounds like Helen should be able to guide you.

Out of interest, I'm still not clear. Have you ever had the rear fan running successfully? If there is a failed relay, the you won't be getting power at the fan, so power can't be everywhere. I suppose if it were me, I would try putting 12v direct across the fan to see if it sprang to life. Duff relay sounds a distinct possibility but hard to point a finger at it without knowing if the fan was working until recently then suddenly stopped working.

#-o #-o #-o

I knew that you had to have the front dial on to make the rear one work....I thought hubby knew this too.....hmmm....turns out he didn't.... Needless to say, the whole bloody thing works perfectly!
