Squeaky belt ,not sure?

Post by daveblueozzie » Mon Sep 22, 2008 9:48 am

I have an intermittent squeak i think on a belt, it only makes a noise when stopped at lights or when ticking over, and only when the engine is warm, it comes on for a few seconds then goes off, then less than a minute later will come back on for a few seconds then off again, its as if a fan was turning on and off. i know its not the air con did not have it on yesterday, but still had the squeak.
Didn't want to intrude on the other thread about squeaky belts in case mine is something different.

Mine was doing just that Dave after the guy replaced my alternator, he hadn't tightened the belts up properly, as Ste said, just give a couple of squirts on the belts if they are tight enough, (but don't overtighten), if it stops it for a bit, you know they probably need replacing, they're cheap enough & easy enough to do for a man of your abilities
