Factory Fitted Cube - Water Pump Goosed :(

Post by EdinburghCamper » Fri Sep 12, 2008 4:20 pm

Hi Guys,

Not sure if anyone can help. In our Factory Fitted Cube, behind the battery you will see a brown section connects the TAP HOSE to the PUMP HOSE. The same brown unit seems to take a power supply lead.

Basically, the small brown pipe leaving this unit, has snapped and as a result, if we turn the tap power supply on, water gishes out of the brown unit all over the electrics.

Does anyone know what this brown unit is, and whether it's easy to find a replacement? Otherwise, I will need to replace the whole pump unit with a compatible 100v model...

Any ideas appreciated! Only problem so far (Other than a puncture on way home from Inverness last week!) :)

Gary.

Just off the phone to a caravan repair specialist close to me, he thinks the brown bit I speak of is a Pressure Switch, so fingers crossed should be straight forward to sort...

I'm not sure what the brown switch is, but it seems reasonable that it is some form of valve switch which stops any water sitting in the pipework flowing to the tap unit when it's switched off - can't think of another reason for it being there! I think that it runs purely from the 12V circuit though, so a standard unit (if there is such a thing!) should fit. I have a spare Cube one if you're stuck.

On a different note - wher did you get your 115AH battery to fit your cube from? Tried PMing you a few weeks back, but suspect that PMs aren't getting out of my system for some reason...

Hi Guys,

I got the new unit installed, but the pump wont shut off unless I turn off the green cube switch. Just means for the time being, I leave the tap ON, and if I need water, I use the green switch to get it.

Pain in the ass, but I can live with it.

Here is a pic of the Battery

That's the way mine has always worked. If I turn the tap fully off then that does stop the flow, but the pump still tries to work & the manual (Members fact sheets) warns that you should turn the flow off via the green switch.

Incred. Before the "mishap", it never ever stayed on, the pump died as soon as I turned the tap.

Hi Gary
Maybe the switch on mine is knackered then!

Thanks for the battery info. Do you have a part model number for the battery? I can't see one in the photo & not having much luck with the search function on the website.
Cheers
