LHD headlights
Hi,
I've just moved to Germany. Trying to sell my Bongo vi aEbay and Autotrader, but no real luck yet, so..
Thought about importing it to Germany, I would need LHD headlights though.
Does anyone know if there is such a thing?
Were LHD Bongos ever produced?
How do Bongo owners in Russia and Poland get on?
Looking forward to helpful answers.

For bongo do not exist LHD headlights. We do next:
chipiest way - turn bulb or stick sector on headlights glass.
Not easy way replace headlights. Our decisions:

Someone who already lives there used Seat Ibeza lamps to pass a german test ok

I didn't know there was a "Ryton, tyne & wear" in the fatherland Glyn?
Certain provisions were put into place when the bongo was being designed to incorporate a L.H.D. version, but this never came to pass,consequently,there are no standard,straight swap over LHD version lights that could be used (not from a bongo at least) Like keefy mentions, i beleive seat (ibiza?) units can be adapted for use?
A more expensive way, would be to do the BMW conversion,in which case LHD versions of the lamps could be used.

I'd go along with that demon AV, the beam benders seem to lose the ability to remain translucent for very long. Plus, they actually diminish quite a bit of the beam pattern,early bongo headlights need as much help as they can get.

I stand to be corrected but wasn't there a simaler post last year, and they found that one of the seat headlights fitted with a bit of mod to the grill, was sourced from a scrapper in germany, that person moved to germany aswell i think

Changed my location, thanks Bigdaddycain.
Not sure I like the BMW conversion, anyway it would probably give the 'Erics' at the local TÜV station a heartattack.

I work in germany and have been out here for a year with the Forces. I took the bongo to a local garage and god knows what he did but i have the original lights in and he charged me 40 euros with no mods or cosmetic surgery needed. They have just got through their second TuV test (german equivalent to MOT) and I've had no problems whatsoever, seem them on a beam tester and they are spot on.
What part of Germany are you going to? If you like, PM me and i can give the details of the garage. We are NW germany.
PS if you're coming acoss to germany for a long period, beam benders are not a good fix.

It's the assymetric patterns in the lens that aid the "dipping", and these obviously cannot be altered, however, I have been told that in Germany, if you can get the headlights to dip straight in front, rather than to the kerb, then this is acceptable ....I don't know if this is correct. Many EU countries will only accept properly made lights with the correct pattern on the lenses, so it's probably safer to buy some other lights, and save the old ones.

I think the straight light beams are no good over here(in germany) either. The reason I say this is that as of 1 mar 08 all cars going through the british forces germany test (equivalent standard of TuV) had to have beams that dipped down and right. I must admit that my fix was done before the rule came in so was very twitchy when I took her to the tester for my second yearly test. Hats off to the bloke though, whatever he did they dip down and right and went through the test fine and dandy.
The only other mod i had to get done was foglights and their positioning.

Hi Monkeyboybongo
If you ever find out what your guy did, let us know,as many EU countries are tightening up....I may go down the BMW headlight route, but I have gone through 2 KAT tests here with beam benders on.
