can anyone help me get started?

Post by clamartraden » Tue Sep 02, 2008 7:27 pm

Hi
I am having trouble starting my Bong in the morning,it seems that overnight the diesel is draining back to the fuel tank.
Its been in the garage but they can't find any problem with the fuel system.
they have said it could be a small air leak in the fuel filter .
Please if anyone can help it would be great as the locals don't like beeing woken at 5 am when i am trying to start it. :(

I hope you are letting the glow plug light come on and go out before trying to start the beast? [-X
If you are then its more probable the glow plugs ( one or more of them) are kaputt.
simple job to buy and fit a new set.

good luck

Oh where are you in the world as your details don't give us a clue?

try undoing your filler cap after you have stopped your engine to see if you get a sort of wooshing noise (vacuum forming ) caused by blocked breather/filler cap,i have a similar issue and am considering drilling a small hole in the cap (or possibly removing carpet to find the top of the fuel tank and checking bereather.) regards neil

This sounds like a job for...........INTERNATIONAL RESCUE.........................The supply to the IP is vacuum so a leak can be a bugger to find.
To stop pissing off everyone at 5 AM fit a lift pump after the tank any leak to the IP will be under pressure and show up.

Hi,strange that there is not enough derv left in the injector pump to start the engine. If the line is draining I think I would have a look at the fuel pump.

Cheers Mal..
