Christmas is coming!!

Post by Harry » Tue Aug 26, 2008 8:45 am

Only three months away and the notorious NW Christms bash is on the horizon.

Any further news yet?

Im hoping to be `on the sick` at Christmas, recovering from having one of my knees replaced,so a slippery Buxton will be out of bounds.(xmas and new year off.....lubbly jubbly)

Chances are i may be working the saturday again but hopefully if its not too far away can wing it over afterwards - complete with victorian dress and thermal underwear as i will have been standing outside all day.

Well if it is Buxton I won't be going but I believe one or two alternatives have been suggested.

I think Jetskier and/or Diamond might have something at the outline plannib stage?

I won't believe Christmas is on the way until the DFS Xmas Sale kicks off.

DFS only have two sales a year - one starts on Boxing Day and ends in summer and the other starts in summer and end on Christmas Eve. #-o

Buxton last Christmas =

Ankle deep mud
Site on top of a hill in a force 8 gale
Skiddy/bogged down vehicles
Trees shedding branches
Marquee blowing away (into my van)
etc etc.

But we all had a great time DESPITE the conditions.

It is also a ruddy long way for anyone north of Wigan (as is the Red Lion.

Thanks Harry. We've just had that at the last couple of camps this summer - we even lost our workshop, when decided it wanted to be the new Tardis and failed miserably. We could just about cope with it but I wouldn't like to go through it in winter. Brrrrrrr!

Suggestion for venue if jetskier/diamond havn't arraged owt yet:

Dalesbridge
Austwick
Nr Settle

http://www.dalesbridge.co.uk/accommodation/camping.htm

They do have some vacancies for weekends in December.

Plenty of hookups available.

Just an idea at this stage...or as a venue for future meets?
