Will Damaged Exhaust Harm My Turbo
As the title says, i have a blowing exhaust, around the back box and whilst not that noticable i was worried that it may have an ill affect on the turbo. Any views on this?

No effect whatsoever I ran mine without a back box for a while and somebody (can't remember who) has actually done away with the back box altogether and just has a length of flexi-pipe - it has passed MOTs OK.
Turbos actually prefer an open pipe and no back pressure.
Take the back box off and just get a length of pipe welded on.

That stupid over sized back box and the way it is hung right on the end of the exhaust is a monstrous design flaw - when mine goes, it goes - permanently.
It'll be a length of 3" stainless pipe poking out from under the bumper.

Re: Will Damaged Exhaust Harm My Turbo
just changed ours for a full s/s system this weekend. cant believe how much of a difference its made. better throttle response now with a sweet purring note till you put the foot down then it roars and takes off like a rocket. well worth it coupled with a k and n filter. the back pressure from that great wacking back box must hinder the flow greatly. get rid asap to release the potential of the bongo.

Is the SS one straight thru or is there a box involved?
How much for it, and is it indestructable?

small back box about a 1/3 of the size of the original box. rest straight through. made from 304 guage i think. comes with a lifetime guarentee even if i change bongos. hand made while you wait
from longlife at leeds but i think there are other depots around the country. they had 3 bongos in last week and they seem very popular with owners for no hassle etc. prices have gone up slightly since people first started putting them on but the full system from the manifold was £329. you can choose from around 50 tailpipes but this bumps up the price. i asked if they could change the noise to mild sports but he said no need to bother as the standard box would give out a sporty note.

Sounds sweet, just e-mailed them for a quote. Have a centre quite close in Battersea. I Let them know that Leeds have done a few in case they never heard of it.dreamwarrioruk wrote:small back box about a 1/3 of the size of the original box. rest straight through. made from 304 guage i think. comes with a lifetime guarentee even if i change bongos. hand made while you wait

Would i be better to get my waxoyl done before or after changing the exhaust?

hi tony, it depends if you want to get black gunk on the new exhaust. all areas are accessable before the exhaust goes on.
when i waxoiled ours it was very messy, got most of it on me lying underneath the bongo on an old tarp.

Naaaa, no worries there mate, gonna get the profs to do that. Just thought that if the gunk got on the exhaust it would stink a bit. So get the waxoyl done then the exhaust.dreamwarrioruk wrote:hi tony, it depends if you want to get black gunk on the new exhaust. all areas are accessable before the exhaust goes on.
