bongo needs a bit of love

Post by xxsilverxx » Tue Aug 05, 2008 6:11 pm

Ive had my bongo for over a year now and love it to bits, so do the kids.
Its now in need of a bit of love b4 we go to Northumberland for a week.
probs as follows :-
1. The petrol gauge is all over the place. Sometimes it reads correctly but other times it reads empty(more often than not). Ive changed the front face panel but to no avail. I think its the sender unit, but dont know where it is , the easiest way to get to it and what to do when I find it.
2. The elevating roof cover has started to come away on the top right hand corner of the roof giving a gap of around 2 inches on each side of the corner. Can anyone tell me the safest and easiest way of putting the cover back so the roof is fully enclosed.
3. My air con unit does not work any more has anyone any ideas.
4. I live in leeds can anyone suggest a reputable garage(that wont rip me off) that could sort these problems in case I cant sort them out myself
Thanks in advance

If you can make it over to Wigan then I would have thought that Wheelquick could probably help you. Why not give them a call.

1 - look in "bongo clinic" on the main page, there's a photo of where to find the fuel gauge sender
2 - don't really understand what you mean :? sorry
3 - does the fan still blow? if not there's a fact sheet on the fan speed resistor & I think on the fan in the factsheets in the members section. If it's the ac itself, may just need recharging, I think Kwik fit are doing an offer where you don't have to pay if they don't get it working, if it hasn't been used the seals may have gone, or it could just be the drive belt gone, under the passenger seat.
4 - Too far away to help

Try using the search function, putting "and" between each word, it's all in here somewhere, welcome to the forum :D

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Fuel gauge could be a bad earth possibly even a DIY fix.
The roof is held up with large screws which go into aluminium small round aluminium inserts that are pressed into the main roof structure. These have come lose.
They need to be pressed back in with a bit or Araldite glue on them, but best done by removing them first - failing that you could try with roof part down (no tension).
Just make sure they are pressed well home as the araldite wont give you a second chance once dried.
