Just newly purchased Bongo - go easy

Hi Everyone out there
Just a new bongo boy of 1 week. Had a good look around the members info, wow, cant believe how much info there was for me. ( still reading3.30 am !! )
Here is my first questions about my new Bongo.
1. why are my headlamps kind of opaque looking , as tho there is tape over them, look kind of stained as opposed to the indicators which are very clear?

2. Read the leisure battery info, but dont understand what i have to do.....no its not a conversion, not got hook up cable either....there is two batteries under bonnet, very new also. The Bongo is in very good condition from Plymouth.

Answer to question 1. alot of bongo's seem to have the film on dont worry there's lots of ways to get it off(I used T-cut)
you try do a search in the recent posts or in the fact sheet area maybe

Question 2.Some bongo's have what's called a winter pack for the very very cold areas of japan so fitting the largest battery possible is the best option ,fitting two large batteries is a fantastic idea for those cold japanese days..

Welcome Johnny, if it's the 'Winter Pack' as Nevets says (sounds like it is) it will have a switch with an engine symbol somewhere. You don't need to use this in the UK, and they are often disconnected here to avoid problems, worth a search.

Hi Moondance, Welcome to Bongoland!

If those batteries are identical they are very likely to comprise a winter pack as others have said. Do check for that switch though and the other clues that Pippin described.
If you want, you can use the passenger side battery as a leisure battery with a simple modification if you are savvy about these things. Starter batteries are not as good as proper leisure batteries but since you have one in place you may as well use it till it looses capacity.

There is a wealth of information in the archives on this and just about anything else you might wish to know about Bongos so my first move is to use the search facility since you will get much more info through that than getting a few answers to a question on the forum. I often find that I need to ask a further question or get clarification but it is all covered on the archive.
Having said all that, never hesitate to ask what might seem to you, a silly question! Others will benefit from the responses as well as you.
When you have the time, put your location in your info section, it is useful to know where you are, fellow members have been known to pop around to help in the past and it is useful when recommending dealers and garages etc.

Sorry i can't help elaborate on question number two, not having a winter pack installed or even an AFT for that matter...!
I believe that my wagon was possibly used in it's previous life as a Triad tour bus, or even the "gentleman's leisure industry"!!

That was a long shopping trip to buy your bongo!
