glow plugs!

Post by aid175 » Tue Jul 29, 2008 1:33 pm

i've been having starting problems with my bongo and finally it won't start at all.just turns over but doesn't fire up..could it be my glow plugs and if so are they easy to change, especially for someone with little patients and about as much mechanical knowledge as you could fit on a rice crispie...thank you!

It could be the glowplugs, although I'd have expected it still to start in this warm weather.
Not a difficult job, but access can be a bit awkward and you will need a socket set with long sockets.
Has it been running OK once it started?

When the AAsays the glowplugs are dead do they mean the 12 volt supply to the glowplugs is dead or each and every glowplug is dead - which would be very unusual. If it it the 12 v supply to the glow plugs then it could be a fuse gone or the glowplug relay has gone, both easily replaced.

I would have thought that for the AA man to have pronounced the glowplugs dead he would have had to remove each one and test it - did he do this?

Hope this helps.

Probably the 83mm ones. If it turns out that you have the 102mm ones, you can still fit the 83mm but you may need to bend the fuel pipes between the injectors. PM me if you need to know what to do to bend the pipes.
