Rusty cills?

Post by missfixit70 » Wed Jul 23, 2008 10:17 pm

When I was fitting my side rails today, I noticed that a couple of the little spot weld holes on the very bottom part of the cill on the drivers side at the rear were just starting to get tiny rust spots. when I had a look underneath, a length of about 10 inches under the rubbery underseal had "crunchy spots", I scraped it back, wire brushed & rust treated it, ready to waxoil. It seemed just to be the area around where the condensate drain from the rear aircon is, coincidence? I thinks not, but what are other's thoughts?

Yes I think that you are correct as I have the same problem there as well :(

Just on that area, or all of it?

I'm beginning to realize the virtues of "mothballing" my bongo for the three winters i DIDN'T have waxoil treatment!

I reckon it's the summer use that does the damage tho Ste  , as it's where there're going to be temperature differentials, condensation sitting around on the bodywork & condensate dripping out of the air con when it's in use.
That's my theory anyway  I'll go sit in my bomb shelter & wait for the flak now
