anti roll bar (inner) bush

Post by mjc » Wed Jul 16, 2008 8:57 am

Just had the cambelt changes and a service. We have had a bit of a rattle at the front and the mechanic discovered some play on the anti-roll bar. It seems that there is what he described as an inner bush (it's a split bush) that sits between the bracket and the subframe that needs replacing and he can't find out through his usual sources. Am I right to presume that this is the bush that is available in the Bongo Shop?

Cheers

Yep Anti Roll Bar bushes & brackets, I'd replace the brackets & the bushes on both sides (from experience of having to go under there 3 times  ) while your at it & check the rear ones too, they're all probably the same age  Are the droplinks ok too?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Or you could use the cheap dodge I used recently after a tip from Dandywarhol, who did it some time back. Simply sleeve the existing rubber bush with some bicycle inner tube and clamp it all back in place. Seems to work perfectly and saves a few quid. Provided the u-clamp nuts undo OK (I had no trouble but used a 6 sided socket and an extension bar so I had good lock on the nut and good leverage), and once you drive the front wheels onto ramps, the job is simplicity itself to do. 8)

PS - new ones can be bought from Bongobits, the Bongo Fury shop or on ebay (cheapest option probably provided the quality is OK)
