I have read though the other post on leisure batteries but I want to know how they are used, as in what does it power. I read a few posts saying it powers the car radio and I assume it powers a fridge. Is it easy to run wire though the BONGO

Normally in a converted Bongo the leisure battery will power the fridge, the waterpump for the sink, the hob ignition and some additional lights. It is charged by the alternator when there is surplus available that the main battery doesn't need. Normally it will also charge from a mains hookup lead as well.

It is common to rewire some of the other things such as blinds, radio, interior lights etc to run from the leisure battery, so they don't flatten the main battery with excess use.

the LB will only power the fridge/coolbox for a limited time. a fridge/coolbox will very quickly flatten the battery unless you start the engine periodically to recharge the battery.
as for the wiring ,it depends on what you have. converted or unconverted.
unconverted you can run the wiring from the LB through the bulkhead to the fuse panel to (patch) the wiring to run the blinds/radio/ciggy socket/interior lights.

I put in willinton kit (available on Ebay) excelent product . He has 4 feeds from leisure battery, am using two of then at moment to power interior lighting, cig sockets, and radio. other two available to power what ever you want ... blinds ect.

cant recomend kit highly enough, allows complet amature to set up electrics.

Hi tried looking for Willington kit but no thing comes up. I have not converted anything at the moment but am looking to put more in so will be putting in a LB. how hard is it to move stuff over to the LB from the main battery, also I will put a 12v TV to put in the bongo and it seems that a LB does not last long and sort of battery should I go for 85ah, 95ah, 105ah, 110ah or 120ah is bigger better?? How long will a LB last on one charge say running a cool box, TV and internal lights?

How long will a LB last on one charge say running a cool box, TV and internal lights?

Not long I'm afraid. The leisure battery should not be discharged below half its capacity in order to keep it healthy. Of course it will be discharged below that point occasionally but assuming a 110AH battery and taking 60AH out of it before recharging:

A cool box might take 7Amps a TV (depending on its size and type) 2 Amps and lighting again depending on the type, 4Amps.
To get running times divide the amps used into 60 and that will give you the hours running time between charges.
If you are static anywhere for any length of time, like over a day, a mains hookup is required to keep things going.
It shouldn't take long to charge the battery up when on the move, a couple of hours run should do it, the alternator chucks out loads of power.

It's the electronic control unit that decides where to dish the available electric to, all part of the split-charging setup.

I think i understand, i think i need to meet up or talk to some of you guys as i think you would answer alot of questions and give me a idea of what i should do first.
