Door Open warning light on... all doors closed

The title kind of says it all. The warning light is permenantly on, as though a door is open. Is this warning light used to signal anything other than a door open? If not, any ideas where to start tracing the fault?

Clean the contacts on the sliding door and the door pillar with a bit of emery cloth/sanding paper.that might help

check the rear door as mine does this and my door looks closed properly but isnt quite closed

It will be the wires behind the dash. Notoriously poorly insulated. Have you had your speedo changed recently? That's what usually causes it.

Thanks for the suggestions. A couple of new lines of enquiry... I will have a rootle around the speedo wiring... Does anyone know how to dismantle the rear door catch assembly in such a way as it will go back together again?

Do any of the interior lights illuminate,(in courtesy mode) even though the doors are properly closed?

No, none of the interior lights are on.
