Overrun Clutch Solenoid
Good afternoon...
The saga continues, i am now pretty confident our bongo needs a new Overrun Clutch Solenoid as per my other topic.
Where would be the cheapest place to buy the part+gasket needed. I can arrange fitting here.
Thanks

Re: Overrun Clutch Solenoid
Its a Nissan box as fitted to many taxis (TX2 I recall, the one with the Nissan engine, not the Ford)
Its identified by RE4R01A so any decent autobox specialist should know it.

Out of interest, are they difficult to fit. Had a price of £127 to fit and a price of £107+vat for the solenoid, gasket is £3+vat.
Re: Overrun Clutch Solenoid
Ordered the bits and should be here tomorrow and its booked in with our local friendly mechanic who is a legend with anything. Just hope fitting isnt too tricky for him
All in all should cost about £290 supplied and fitted. Although i still need to buy some ATF.

Haven't done one on a Bongo but it can be done in situ - sump pan off, valve block out - don't think it'll require any special tools.Boro wrote:Out of interest, are they difficult to fit. Had a price of £127 to fit and a price of £107+vat for the solenoid, gasket is £3+vat.
An hour and a half to 2 hours should see it done I guess

Solenoid pack. Bought it from these people... http://www.jpat.co.uk/jpat_pdfs/Mazda%2029_11_2000.pdfwestonwarrior wrote:great to hear and sounds like a good price

Re: Overrun Clutch Solenoid
If you do the job yourself you will need good access to the underneath of the van, lighting, and cleanliness. And if you screw up things could get expensive! But from what I saw in the transmission repair place when they did my solenoid pack, it doesn't look like a particularly difficult job.

Im not sure what i went for, the guy at JPAT has these sitting on the shelf as its a common problem. Maybe these solenoid packs are for other mazda models too?
Luckily some good friends of ours own a garage nearby and we get some good rates and id trust them with anything. If he says he can do it, he normally can
The part should arrive today and its going down there straight away and should be finished by 2moro
Oooh, parts JUST arrived as i type this. Wish us luck, lol.

See if you can get some photos? Good luck
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: Overrun Clutch Solenoid
Just had "the call" from the garage. Bongo is done and working just fine
I did ask them to take some pics of them doing it, so hopefully they remembered
We're off to pick it up in a mo.
