Losing Gearbox Fluid??

Post by spamula » Thu Jun 26, 2008 5:23 pm

My bongo had some badly coroded pipes which started to leak hydraulic fluid. So I replaced with rubber ones.

The dip stick reads full and the pipes seem to have stopped leaking but every time i go on a longish journey I seem to lose fluid somewhere also gear box a bit slow to change and a bit clunky if I put my foot down when starting off.

What things can I check?

Are you checking the level correctly - ATF should be hot, gear lever in D with engine running - obviously the wheels should be chocked.

& a foot or hand on the footbrake just in case
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Looks like she is leaking through some corroded pipe work, how difficult would this be to fix with some metal tubing or rubber pipe?
