Gross vehicle weight

HMMM

is the gross vehicle weight of a bongo 2350 kg as I have read somewhere before?

if so that doesn't leave a lot of carrying capacity if after a conversion its around 2000 kg. 4 people at 75 kg (12 stone ish) you see where i'm going with this???

Hi
You callin' my Bongo a Gross Vehicle????
That's the downside, yetisurfer....I think the best alternative is to buy a camping trailer, and fit it out with a folding kitchen, gas cooler, etc......you can run the electrics from a lead to the car's leisure battery, and when you're not camping, you don't have all that to lug around....
Cheers
Helen
In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.

2350 kg GVW doesn't even allow you to carry eight 70 kg people in an unconverted one either. 1910 + 8 x 70kg = 1910 +560 = 2470 - and I am assuming that the 1910kg kerb weight does not include a 75kg driver (remember this is Japanese definition of kerb weight).

The European definition of kerb weight includes a 75kg driver, but I might hazard a guess that the Japanese definition might be based on the US one "The weight of a fueled automobile with standard equipment but without cargo or passengers.".

But remember, not all conversions weigh the same, the difference between Vohringher ply and mdf or chipboard makes a difference, for example. Ours (1930kg) weighs hardly more than an unconverted one (1910kg) - (all those heavy seats replaced with a lighter rock'n'roll bed, rear aircon removed).

Actually the payload of a Bongo is not bad when you compare it to many modern motorhomes.
