Hello, please can anyone help me with the following.. I am trying to change the cv joint on my Bongo Frendy 4wd 1995 N reg. I have everything off but am struggling to remove the actual joint from the drive shaft. Can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to remove this, as I am unable to separate the outer and inner part of the joint to gain access to the spring clip holding the driveshaft into the inner section???? (if that makes sense) :?: Thanks :)

Had to split my CV`s from the drive shafts to replace the CV gators #-o and sadly it can be a bu**er of a job as the CV`s and the shafts have a habit of seizing together due to the splines on the driveshafts rusting . :roll: The only way to seperate them is to use brute force ( 5lb lump hammer ) and lots of swear words or reassemble the suspension and ask your local garage to do it - I managed to do the nearside one myself but had to admit defeat with the offside one and put it into my local garage :cry: and it still took them nearly 3 hours to do the job - The garage owners last comment was "someone has had a go at doing this - haven`t you " :oops: This is the only repair on an car I have worked on that has defeated me . :shock: At least now I can dismantle the Bongo front suspension / brakes with my eyes shut. #-o Ian . Not much help I know but your not alone struggling with this problem.

That is helpful thx, wasnt sure whether it needed more force or if i was doing something wrong, I gave up on it last night #-o but will give it another go today, got both sides to do :x thx for your help :)

I gave up after an hour wielding a big hammer and got the local garage to change mine too. They remove the driveshaft (I believe there is a circlip at the diff end) stick it in a vice and THEN belt the joint with a large hammer. They charged me £25, so when the next one is needed I'll just bypass the diy attempt entirely.

A lump hammer AND a big brass drift is needed. The brass drift is used to "shock" the outer over the snap ring

Sorry I didnt update you all on this one.. after two days of a lot of swearing I eventually got it off with an angle grinder! Now I realise how they come apart etc it will be a bit easier to do the other side, but I think im going to wait till it really needs doing as it was a pig of a job. Thanks for all your help :D
