Waxoyl in London

Post by thedogsbollox » Wed Jun 18, 2008 11:44 pm

Hi there guys, I keep coming across references to waxoyl and how it should be applied to every new Bongo when it arrives in the country. Mine has been here for 3 years and is bare underneath. I am beginning to worry that it might be too late to save her or will i still get the benifits of this treatment?
Where can i get it done and how much should it cost me?

You will get loads of people saying do it yourself or theres a bloke in timbuctoo who does this for three shillings and sixpence but I went to Rustmaster in Hatfield, paid about 400 quid and came away feeling I'd had the job done properly. I think its http://www.rustmaster.co.uk or he advertises on e bay and is probably only 40 mins from you in Greenford

Hi there,

I had mine done at Rustmaster, they are off Junction 21a on the M25 near St. Albans. http://www.rustmaster.co.uk.

Other place is near Newbury called before and after.

Pleased overall with the results on mine. I did have alot of overspray on the windows and paintwork that took a while to remove with white spirit mind but I guess you can't help that happening. Just factor that into the work as you will need to spend a little time getting that off.

Worth doing though so recommended.

Regards

That's interesting Andy. I have to say I had no such problem at Chassis Clean. I think that for the prices Chassis Clean and Rustmaster charge you should not expect any overspray. Still worth it though overall as a quality job like they do is worth every penny I think.

I had mine done at Rustmaster last October, very pleased. He was offering 12% discount to Bongofury members also.

I was a bit sad and took my laptop and worked out of his little side office so got to see the whole process. Photo below shows the first stage - steam clean

Lovely looking job coolhand. Worth every penny in my view. Makes me want to drive mine around upside down. A little stuff on the paintwork etc. is neither here nor there really, but puzzling nonetheless. It could be that my dark green (Bongo) colour and failing eyesight meant I didn't spot any even though there was some there. Who knows

I must say there was no overspray on mine whatsoever. As I said very impressed by the service at Rustmaster

Hi,

Overall I'd totally recommend rustmaster and I'm glad I had it done. The overspray wasn't really a problem, I guess having spent 2 days giving it a proper polish complete with clay bar and hand glaze I was a bit miffed to have to clean it again so soon, but it did come off easily. Remember mine is white and shows stuff like that easily. So no complaints really and the job was fantastic, I took up the offer of a lift into St Albans and left Mike (I think that was his name) kindly took digi pics for me.

It's well worth doing and I'm sure it will keep the rust away for many years. Some before and after pics, still looks great after many months.
