Replacement back box exhaust.

Post by petefpetef » Tue Jun 17, 2008 6:44 pm

I have seen a exhaust backbox section on ebay from a company DAS ltd. Has anyone used this company and does the exhaust fit.

Don't bother - lot's of people are just fitting a pipe without back box. It's not much noisier and a lot cheaper.

I would have thought you could get flexi pipe from your local exhaust fitting place - no idea of the cost.

First - has it broken where the pipe enters the back box?

If so and the bend over the back axle is still sound, all you need is another straight(ish) piece of pipe to fit over the end of the old pipe to replace the back box.

Get the join clamped or better still welded and the bracket off the old tailpipe clamped or welded to the new pipe in the right place for the mounts to line up.

As Franco says the design of the tailpipe and back box is a source of problems as it tries to flex right where the pipe enters the box and eventually snaps off.

PS if you put your location in your profile there may be somebody local who can advise where to try getting it done.

Where can you get the flexi hose.
I have scanned ebay and google no real luck.

Also just a thought whilst looking on ebay you can get hold of polished stainless steel rear box's (3" boy racer ones but ok) for £40 new. I was thinking one of these bit of flexi hose clamps and new rubbers could this replace by massive dented leaking rear box?

Cheers
