Glow plug light

Post by Benjymac » Sun Jun 08, 2008 4:44 pm

When I turn the ignition on the glow plug light keeps flashing and doesn't stop even when I have started the engine? Is this trying to tell me something.

At the same time the central locking is not working (I have just had an alarm and central locking motor added to drivers door).

I have been wet vaxing the van and am wondering if there is any electrics that I may have wetted to cause the problem. ANy thoughts?

Thanks

Flashing glow plug light indicates problem with the scavenger fan (try using the search for 'scavenger', or 'glowplug AND flash': should give you several things to try out). Good luck - probably just got some damp in the engine bay sensor by the handbrake.

the central locking could be down to your wires cracking in the small loom inbetween the door and the body, any trouble with drivers door speaker or drivers window ???

or simply you got that much water into it with the vax that its upset some of the very tempermental wiring on these bongos.
look how many earth blocks there are under the seats.

Thanks for all the responses. I am guessing there is definitely an electrical fault somewhere. At the moment:

1. Passenger and sliding door do not lock with central locking
2. Glow plug light flashes (would this occur if power to the scavenger fan was lost?)
3. Stereo isn't powered.

I have checked all the fuses in the fusebox and they are okay.

I had the stereo fitted as well as the alarm and new driver's door electric central locking motor. I am sure I have caused the problem with too much water but I won't tell the garage that tomorrow when I complain that they must have done something!! :)

Any hidden fuses anyone knows of?

Problem solved. It was a fuse that had blown (top left of fusebox). Reason I hadn't picked it up is because I did a continuity test which said that blown fuse was okay. This was because I would have had the continuity through the interior lights that run off that fuse. or any other closed circuit on that loop.

Out of curiosity does anyone know where I can get the wiring loop diagrams for a 1995 Ford Freda?

Thanks
