Creaking drivers door

Post by apole » Fri Jun 06, 2008 4:20 pm

Hi guys,

My drivers door creaks quite badly when going over bumps etc, at least I hope it's my door and not my hip !!

Anyone had this and managed to fix it? All the other doors are fine. Wondering if I grease up the lock mechanism and maybe play around with the adjustment, although it opens and closes fine.

Are you certain its the door? when shut it should not move enough to creak,at least i would think not
mine creaks a bit over bumps, I changed the drop links and think it may just be the springs as has been suggested.

Hi,

I'm certain it is the door, you can hear it quite clearly and if you open it a bit the noise stops.

Might it be the door card (trim panel) and could you test that theory by removing it and nipping round the block?

When mine creaked it turned out to be the door trim rubbing against the dash trim, sprayed it with dashboard shine, very slippery, and that cured it.Every now and then I have to spray it again.

Hi,

Glad to report the noise has now gone, I sprayed silicon grease into the door latch mechanism, I'm sure that was it. Anyway the noise is no more which is great.

Thanks for your help.

Oh yeah, it was getting very annoying. I've treated all the doors as a precaution.

I guess it's like a trailer when the towball isn't greased, that can get very creaky.

Glad it's gone now, you really notice the difference.

I thought mine was creaking but it was a plastic kinda sound.
I took a look at the driver side of the dash and next to the door found some loose plastic wedges ( as used in double glazing window fitting) pushed them back where they belonged and

Hey presto

No creaking

try your dash area first!

I just put back a previous owners fix and it works!

Good luck =D>
