spose I could make a speaking tube with a hose and funnel and fit it between the under bonnet and driver seat - no need for fancy electrics to tell when the fan comes on!!!!!!

Ronhud,

I was expecting to get a calibration for the ECU coolant sensor, and hence the Mason gauge by finding a nice big hill on our holiday last week - but I didn't manage it

From what data I have and from incidental info I've picked up I would suggest: -

95C is 80% ish and 108C is 100% ish (where 100% is the right hand smaller mark on the dash gauge)

All being well I shall be in the Grampian hills at the weekend to get a referenc reading for the high spped fans coming on at 108C.

Regards Grahame

Graham - I look forward to more info. HardKnott Pass in the Lakes if you are down that way would give a good test.
