For info - it may be a local thing but Halfords in both Bodmin & Truro have refused point blank to supply & fit a cd/radio. "Don't do Bongo's as the retaining clips on the factory fit systems snap off too easily, making it impossible to remove & we're not insured for the damage."
They were absolutely correct & I had to go cap in hand to a local specialist for help having sealed the unit half in, half out & then being unable to switch off Terry Wogan. I know plenty of you have got yours out with cut up coat hangers & so on so maybe it's the model? Mines a '98.
Might be something to bear in mind if doing your own & it doesn't just pop out.
Flying Sparks in Truro did an excellent job, charged little more than Halfords would have & will forego the fee if it's an easy swap. Mine was apparently a ****ing ****ard but the fitter did ask for permission to swear at me further before delivering his verdict on my efforts. So full marks for excellent customer relations.

my experience of halfords is they are fine for routine items anything beyond that and a specialist is best.when we had our stereo fitted i used a local guy who fortunately had done lots of bongos and had no trouble.

the voices made me do it!

Alternatively, leave the van in any inner city for a few hours & let the local 'yoofs' remove it for you.
A good thing about the Bongo is that you can remove the glove box to get good access to the back of the radio to push it out.

Yes, it came out with two bits of bent wire

Think this must be a local thing......didn't fancy a 300 mile drive home with no music yesterday and saw a Halfords sign in the distance (just outside Durham). Not usually a fan of the 'orange brand' but in this instance hats off to them. I was half-expecting the, "sorry mate we can't do a Bongo" after reading this thread a couple of days back.....but within 10 mins new stereo installed and operational, no probs.
