I dont really GP it felt hotter to the touch which i've never felt it that hot before and i've sat there in the footwell playing with the throttle linkage on a few occasions trying to wait for it to get hot and it not, the local boy racers enjoyed me trying to get it running hot aswell
does that mean the stat is open or not
I dont really know
but it kinda makes sence that the wet stuff is running where it hasn't in the previous to my knowledge
but to be frank i don't fe.... know really
maybe i leave the coolant to my friend the mechanic but even at mates rates
but hey what the
i can do me alarm, oil' filters, brakes, suspension, and all the sorts, and i stand to do two cylinder heads and not one
hey in for a penny
what ya reckon should i take two brave pills

Re: bleeding air out of water cooling
woo hooo
have got it done .
we put the breather pipe into a palstic bottle containing some mixed anti freeze so that the pipe was at the bottom of the bottle.took the cap of the header tank and tried to have two containers at same level to start with . started engine let it idle for a while to warm up. then revved engine that caused the water to be sucked out of the breather pipe bottle forward into the HT along with bubbles then stopped reving when the water level reache dthe top of HT the water then syphoned back to the breather bottle drew the water and lots of air bubbles out until the water in HT had dropped to just above min , we then started reving again repeating this process for about an hour i guess (did not time it) until the bottom hose got hot. just before the hose got hot there was a lot of bubbles again so i pressume that was when the stat opened we continued the seesawing of the water until there were no more bubbles then replaced the bung and HT cap revved engine for couple of mins then let it idle before turning off . have checked the level it has dropped a little so have topped it up .
Thanks too all who have given help and advice and phone calls it is very much appreciated .

Re: bleeding air out of water cooling
I've bled about half a dozen Bongo systems and tried the "see saw" method once - all I can say was that it took a lot longer than the Mazda factory method because I reckon you can inadvertantly introduce air into the system by allowing the bleed tube to sit under the top tank level by "see sawing" the pipe.
Done properly, exactly "by the book" produces results in about 20 minutes - either that or I've been lucky.........................
Glad to hear it's sorted D n K &K
