Dent fix

I'm picking up more than my fair share of dings, dents and scratches recently. The latest being a crease like dent about 2 / 3 inches long on the rear quarter. It hasn't broken the paint and I can get to it from the inside to try and push it out - but last time I did this I managed to make the dent worse by wacking it with a bit of wood and a hammer!

So any advice on what would be a good tool to push the creae out from the inside - should I warm up the metal first? Or just try and fill it and paint it!

Any advice as always gratefully recieved.

I've seen this a couple of times - might be worth a go, not sure if it'll work on a small ding though - more for big panel wallops - having a look at it this weekend.

I've got a small but very visible ding on my rear pillar - really annoying. I watched the youtube video then some others about products that used a stick on rod/pad and a brace with a threaded hole for the rod. You used it to pull the dent out then some special spray allowed you release the glued on pad. Couldn't find them on ebay though - possibly a dodgy product? It must be a good game for racketeers - all us desperate dented people

I've seen those vids.. very intriguing & convincing too.
...But i suppose with the right lighting & camera angle, David Copperfield can make a DC10 disappear!

BUT its £90 per call out and one dent all the others will be an additional £30 each.

I don't use them but a lot of people do with good results

Yeah I was thinking of saving all my dents up and then getting a job lot done - trouble is it'll copst more than the van the way I'm going - not used to these Devon lanes I guess but most of them have been pavement and car park dings.

As you can get at it from inside try putting a suction cup on the outside and gently rubbing the dent out from the inside.
Let me know if it works then I will try it

I dented mine high up on the rear quarter when I first bought it. I started a thread which drew a lot of good advice see

A local dent fixing shop pulled the dent for me for about £20 then I used a filler to smooth out the remaining ripples and sprayed with aerosol cans. It was done 'on the street' and I got some blooming in the last coat of varnish. However it has blended in more over time and I dont notice it now. Any future buyer would know there had been a dent but it would be clear that functionally it has been succesfully treated. Have a go!

Totnes is still hippy heaven, take it all with a pinch of salt really - on the whole a nice vibe.

Thanks Ron - I'll give that some thought. The dent company who came out to me wanted to drill a hole in the metalwork in the tailgate recess and I didn't like the idea of that. I may fill it and spray it in the fullness.
