jump starting..

how do you j/start a bongo ?,normally one connects one cable to the battery and one to the engine ,how does one do this with a bongo ??

I'm sure I read in the Bongo Handbook that you were to connect the earth to the vehicle rather than the neg terminal, but again I don't know why.

I drove transit vans for donkeys ears and i am sure it was in the manuel, but i also cannot remember why.

I tried to use a connection to the engine for the negative but it did not work. I stick to connecting the terminals, battery to battery.
Underground, Overground, Bongoling Free, the Bonglers of Bedford, common are we ...

The official reason is that there's the possibility of a spark from a very discharged but still gassy battery blowing up.

Yeah, nanny state and all that BUT having seen the results of a battery exploding when a "mechanic" jumped a discharged battery when he'd left the tops off.............................burney, burney face, and wrecked his clothes and spattered battery acid all over the customer's paintwork :shock:
