Drivers door wire loom

Post by David Edwards » Tue May 13, 2008 10:48 am

The window is playing up again on my 96 p bongo, I know its the wires thru the door loom but cannot remember which ones, I have had a quick look and replaced one connector but I am in agony with me back at the mo so a quick reference would help, I thought it was the yellow and the red but they seem okay, passenger window works fine off its own switch just cannot bend much to try each wire individually. Also could not find it on search. Happy motoring (hopefully) If someone can point me right.

Very interested in this one myself David. Mine has the occasional mysterious 'not working incident', mos recently a few days ago. Cleared up as mysteriously as it started. Only clue was I don't use it much during the week so it had stood unused (in warm weather/sunlight) for a week. I nearly bought a new window switch but thought it might turn out not to be that, but a fracture in the wiring loom. Problem is then, how on earth do you track down these things when they are intermittant and/or without tearing the loom apart.

We need the best intellectual input of wiring gurus like Roosteruk on this one. I haven't checked the members area, but is there a factsheet on this?

Good luck

PS - Very sorry to hear about the back and wish I could wave a wand. You have my deepest sympathy, although I suspect my back problems are relatively slight. Hope it improves.

Wow, found it, done it, what a bugga, it was the wire, the fatter red one, it had come apart right inside the rubber tube that goes into the wing, had to pull it a bit to get it out then had to cut some of the rubber away to expose the wire. Mazda are not very generous at all with wires, finally bared both ends and stuck male / female connectors on and away it went, there was another gone too a thin green one which must have been the passenger wire, stuck a connector on that too and it seems ok now. Terrible system tho the wires seem awful brittle to me and if any more go inside the wing it is gonna be one hell of a problem. At least for now all is ticketty boo once again.

Does the door loom terminate in an accessible terminal block inside the wing?

Mine has an intermittent problem and may be worth stripping out altogether and rewiring, but only if you can get to the ends of the wires in the wing

Forgot to say Thanks Mike, appreciate it. Muz, dont really know about the inside wing part didnt fancy trying to strip panels to get to it perhaps some of the guys who convert em may know in case they have to amend or alter / add wiring, all I know is there are loads of the blooming things and they are so awkward to get at. It wasnt even the wire that I thought was causing the problem it was a hidden part of another one. Even threw me a bit when I realised only the drivers speaker was working too, thought it couldnt be one of the door wires, so.. out came the dvd player, sure enough two wires had parted company from their connectors, what next I wonder. Right its time for me missus to practise her veterinary acupuncure on me back again, so its on me hands and knees time, lol., works a blooming treat tho.

Good news about the Bongo David. Hope the spinal stuff achieves a similar result. We could use a special thinktank on this wiring lark as is both a minor and a major problem all in one. I just hope mine continues to to have many more on days than off ones (as is currently the case) :?

Well having cured the windows, the blooming central locking is playing up again now, I know its the wire loom but at the mo I canna be bothered tackling it, once again they all look fine, just cannot remember which colours are the central locking and havent got the puff to fiddle wiv en at the mo.There must be a better system for these wires. Has anyone found out if there is a connector in the wing as I wonder if it would be better to source a loom and re fit it.

Have you looked behind the panel just inside the drivers footwell between the door and the accelorator pedal? Mine has all the connections in a box in there.
