Roof Tent Fly-sheet ripped - needs repair / replace

Post by bonog » Tue May 06, 2008 8:31 am

Hi,

Has anyone ever tried to repair or replace the roof tent fly-sheet fly sheet. I managed to rip the netting on both sides by lowering the freetop with the internal floor raised and the tent unzipped - doh! There is a 6 inch rip in a 'T-shape' on either side. Short of replacing the whole tent, I thought I could either do a neat repair somehow (?!)or unpick the fly-sheet entirely and get a new piece cut to match then sewn back up - probably quite a bit of work! Any suggestions?

It depends upon the integrity of the flysheet material. Mine's pretty ropey and would easily disintegrate if I tried to stitch it. Instead I've had to use transparent patches with a piece glued inside and outside. Not pretty but functional. I would give it a go and try stitching and if it fails resort to transparent tape. You could try to source a full replacement net but they aren't cheap.

you could patch it with white organza or similar netting material - try a bridal shop they may have some remnnants.
