New springs / shocks ?

Hi all,
This is kinda carrying on from a different thread but....
Recently found out that my bongo had been previously lowered, until couple of weeks ago this hadn't caused a problem. Since then its been bottoming out all the time... over small bumps etc, I guess the shocks are going and its lettin the bongo sit further down than previously.
Anyway, is it possible to change the springs back to normal ones ? How would I get a spec on the normal springs ?

The springs hold the Bongo up, the shocks (more correctly dampers) only stop it bouncing they shouldn't affect how high it rides.

Why it should suddenly start bottoming out is puzzling, I'd check to see if a spring has broken or something.

Hi, I'm not an expert but should be simple enough.
I guess money would be a bigger factor.
Belhill breakers could sort you out but then you might
only get 2nd hand ones. They do new parts but best
ask them.
AVA have new standard dampers, I think, not sure
about springs.
I'm thinking of upgrading dampers and brands like
Pro-comp have suitable ones I think.
The front suspension may be harder to restore to standard
without buying brand new mazda part.
I'm sure someone else with more know how will be along soon.

Lowered springs are always in demand, so if they are still OK (not broken) it could be worth offering a swap in the "Swaps" thread.

I'd be interested if you were closer.

As scanner suggests, there are plenty of forum members after a set of lowering springs, i was looking for a reasonably priced set for 2 or 3 years!

I'd have snatched your hand off for a straight swap,if you get any interest, perhaps you could meet mid way, and go dutch on the cost of swapping over the springs at a nearby garage? I'd definitely put "the feelers" out on the swap section if i were you Mayk....

Have you suddenly loaded it more heavily, carrying different loads or had a conversion done?

nope the conversion was done when I bought it.. I'm wondering if the weight of the conversion has taken 6 months to take its toll on the springs and they have sagged.

I suppose it could be possible if they were cheapo aftermarket lowering springs in the first place and not really up to the job.

Does it ride lower at the back than the front?

Errrrrm....there's NO bump stop on yer van!

If the springs are shorter then the axle will hit the metal where the bump stop used to be - there's witness marks on the axle............
