indicators not working

Post by bongo john » Sun Apr 13, 2008 12:18 pm

hello i need some help with my indicators, the left side has stopped working completely even the green arrow on the dash doesn't flash. the relay clicks faster than normal and the hazard warning switch clicks at the correct rate but no lights on the left at all.
the right side works normally
i have changed all the bulbs on the left and replaced every fuse still nothing
are there any fuse locations other than by the drivers right knee ?
could it be a faulty relay ?
there is no current at the bulb holders and i don't know what to try next
has anyone had a similar problem or any idea what this problem might be
thanks

No expert but you seem to have ruled out everything except the indicator switch. Mind you, would a faulty switch stop the hazard lights working? :? :?
Indicators flashing quickly usually indicates a faulty bulb.

I think it sounds a bit like ether a dodgy connection to the bulb somewhere along the line or that you've had two dosgy bulbs in a row. This isn't entirely unlikely, either. :?

thanks for the replies does anyone know if there are two relays or a single relay for the indicators ? i wondered whether one was not working at all and the other was ok which would explain why the right side was still working ok
i might change it anyway just to be sure

You say you changed the bulbs john, did you check the contacts are clean, and making a good connection with the bulbs?

And have you tried swapping the indicator bulbs to check one isn't dodgy?

have sorted this now it turned out to be the indicator relay (white box on the bulkhead behind a piece of trim by the drivers right foot) the 12 v supply wasn't making it to the rocker switch so the rocker went faster and the power didn't make it through to the indicator circuit.
there was a dry joint on the supply, resoldered everything ok now.
thanks for the replies
