I now have a set of 16 inch wheels on Bungle.
As I assume that a 16 inch spare (I haven't got one) will not fit where the spacesaver is currently situated, what do users of larger wheels or tyre sizes use as a spare?
My first thought is to use an existing 15 steel wheel (195 or 215) but am wondering what your thoughts are on the use of that in an emergency? I'm guessing that it can't be any worse than using a spacesaver. Oh, I have a 2 wheel drive as I suspect that that would make a differnce to the answer.

Re: Spare Wheel Size
most people just use a normal 15 inch steel as a spare, what does it matter, its only a spare, and enough to get you home ,and a lot better than a skinny ,then you can fix your normal 16/18inch tyre as needed. and then put the steel 15 inch back under the car.
Lost without my Bongo.
Re: Spare Wheel Size
If the new 16" wheel isn't of a hugely larger overall diameter than the 15" one, my 16" are 3mm larger than the previous 15s, it should fit as there is loads of spare room.
But I just use the 195/70-15 that was the previous spare.

Re: Spare Wheel Size
Could you not whip off one of your 16"s and check to see if it fits comfortably BFB? That way you could look on e-bay or wherever for a "scabby" 16" to use as a spare, with a matching sized tyre as the rest of your tyres of course...

Re: Spare Wheel Size
Thanks for the replies...
Couldn't really sort this out myself due to toe operation and subsequent limp. So a mate popped round this eve and put my 16inch wheels on Bungle.
Have measured wheels and decided that 15" is sufficiently to use as spare. The tyres on the 16" are a lower profile and are close in diameter.
Now have 3 spare steel wheels to pass on to spacesaver users. Leaving for southern softies at lunchtime tomorrow if any takers.

Re: Spare Wheel Size
I run on 16" 215/75/16 and have a 15" 215/80/15 spare ( nearly identicle circumference, couldn't get a compatible 16" wheel as a spare for love nor money!). The spare fits in the conventional space saver spot with a bit of room left over, just a slightly lower ground clearance, but still higher than the exhaust, so no worries. The only concern is the extra weight on the winch cable and bracket. If a 215/80/15 fits, then you will have no problem as this is the largest wheel size that will fit a Bongo without chopping things about! Hope this helps!
