Anyone seen a nut like this!

I removed this bolt about a week ago to change the seal.Take off the injection pipes and remove the jets they are screwed into,it is then easily removed with a stilson or simular tool.Be careful you dont lose the springs and jets.

I did wonder about doing this but wasn't too sure about removing the jets. If all went okay when you did it I reckon I could give it a go.

Thanks to everyone else for the Gator tips, and other suggestions too - I found one in the states called a King Gator(!) which would fit the nut if you could get a hold of one..........

I'll have a go tomorrow.

It's approx 26mm in diameter (A 25mm doesn't fit, a 26mm slips off ). So I reckon the king gator would do the job, it fits nuts up to 30mm+

Okay, got the little blighter off! - first I removed jets out the back (being careful to not lose the springs) and then using my "vice grip" locking pliers I managed to undo the nut. The o-ring was perished so the effort was worthwhile. Too busy tonight to put it back together, will have a go in the morning.

Got everything back on. Can't get her started though. Should I try bleeding the injectors? Or can I just keep cranking her over?

They should self bleed but it wouldn't do any harm the loosen off the pipes a quarter turn when cranking over to bleed them.

Got her going again - had to jump start using my wife's car 'cause the battery was a bit low from sitting for a few days.

I haven't checked carefully for leaks but so far so good.

Just finished replacing the 2 seals at the bottom of the pump (still do not know how I managed to the farside plate plus bolts back in...phew!), fixed that leak only to find another leak from the tri nut described on this thread.

Phoned up Lawson Diesel and order the seal required. The guy there advised me to put some grease on the threads when putting back together. He also advised that the nut should be torqued up (90Nm I think), however when I told him I would probably not be able to measure any torque he said to tighten up as tight as I could get it.

Saw one of these in B & Q http://www.raitools.com/images/87-988.htm, locates on three faces and does 17mm to 24mm so I am hoping this will work.

I am assuming that I will need to remove the pipe work coming out of the distribution block that surround the nut. I take it I will have the remove the pipes undoing nuts top then once removed, unscrew the unions (injectors?) that go into the distribution block?

Could someone please confirm?

Correct on both counts. I think the stanley tools you are looking at will work. I used Vice-Grip pliers to take it off. It was pretty tight - so just tightened it as much as I could. Before I tried the Vice grip I emailed [email protected] and heard from David there that they could supply th correct socket for the job. It might be worth speaking to him/emailing him - use the picture from the forum to explain what you are looking for. I think it was £12 for the socket - I would have gone for it had I the time.
