Wiring for Stereo
Hi i have a Bongo with the standard radio/cassette from Japan and a Xanavi Sat Nav fitted. Neither of them turn on although the screen extends and retracts on the Sat Nav so there must be some power somewhere. I know there is a lot of Q&A's about wiring etc for the stereo but i think there must be an issue with the incoming power into cassette deck. I haven't pulled apart the dash to trace back the wiring to the loom and i don't really know what i'm looking for so if there's any advice on what to look out for that would be appreciated. Or from experience is this something i could take to Halfords to fix (with purchase of a new stereo) or should i take to Auto-Electrician? Are there any recommendations for Auto-Electrician's in Bristol area? Thanks Paul

Re: Wiring for Stereo
i dont think the radio or sat nav will work ,different systems, its a better bet to buy a good radio and a sat nav
Lost without my Bongo.
Re: Wiring for Stereo
Hi Humbi,
I'm assuming yer sat nav was imported with the Bongo, it will have a Jap map.
No use here unless a download map for the UK & Europe can be got.
Your radio will need an expander to pick up UK radio waves Japs are on a different band width.
What part of Brizzle are you in?
Does yer ciggy lighter work?
Would be cool to at least try & get the system running before forking out on like for like UK style!!

Hi Jaylee,
Thanks for your response. Livin in Horfield for now, about to head off to Europe to give Mary Bongo a run with the family. Never bothered sorting out the audio thing coz i think there migt be sumthin up with wiring from loom, the radio and sat nav don't even turn on. Anyway i've bought a Tom Tom and i've got a portable DVD player so i should be right.
Where in Brizzle are you at? How long ya had a Bongo for? Mine goes well 4WD diesel gig, bit heavy on the juice but runs well. Gunna sell it tho before headin back to Oz. Take care.

Re: Wiring for Stereo
Hi Humbi,
There ain't nothing better than doing Europe in a Bongo, i use mine as a tour bus for me band.
I have had it i'd say just over a year, but i've wanted one for about three!
I actually live in Box, between Bath & Corsham.
Are you from Oz?
Cheers.
