rear tyre size

Post by Jamesd » Tue Apr 08, 2008 7:30 pm

just noticed that my rear tyres are 205 wide rather than the recommended 215. All the other figures are ok. Does it make a difference having 215s on the back? I wonder if the narrower 205 is more economical on fuel. What have people found works best for them?

If you have a 4WD and the front tyres are as Mazda recommend (195/70), you may have problems with the viscous coupling. If 2WD, there's no problem. I had 205s all round on my 4WD.

Thanks John. Mine's a 4WD and I've got 205 65s front and rear. If yours went ok with that combination then its probably fine.

That's fine - the speedo will read a little generous though
