Rear Door seal

Whilst taking advantage of the lovely sun today I decided to clean all above the door, hinges and little crevices I could find with guess what, STARDROPS, Scrubbed the rear seat (dirty through carrying a spare wheel)cleaned up like a treat. But then, Shock horror....

I noticed the seal of the rear door is torn... Dad said Supergloop it. I don't think it will last.

The question is can I get another and does anybody have any idea of a compatable part....

Is it the hollow part that is torn?

Use the rubber solution type glue that you use for split cv boot kits, can't remember what it's called, but we used to make up odd sized o-rings with similar stuff. or inner tube repair kit

I've used superglue in this situation with good results

Yes it is the hollow bit that's torn. Strange how it has happened. Mr A has visited the car retirement home lately and brought some things home in the back. I wonder if he caught it..

I will try super gloop me thinks (dads always know best)1st and see how I go from there. If not it's a visit to the car retirement home for a similar part. Plenty Vans in there..

Ours is also torn but the torn bit is missing so can't gloo it back! Have seen one or two others with tears in the same or near place- is it a common thing i wonder

Doesn't seem to affect the sealing though

My sliding door seal had the same tear,i superglued no problem

At least this type of leak won't matter to much.

If you were really serious about mending it, I reckon some black (neoprene?) rubber of the sort used in some mousemats, faced with bicycle inner tube then cut to shape with a sharp modelling knife could probably be superglued in with success and might get somewhere near an invisible mend.

I've just noticed the rubber weather seal around the sliding door closing pins is perished on mine. I've got a bit of old mousemat left so its out with the modelling knife to cut me a new gasket, slice off the remains of the perished one and superglue the new gasket in place and hope it does the trick

A smaller rubber pipe as an internal sleeve glued into both ends will make it permenant.

Good thinking TGP - hadn't thought of that. It would support / jig any facing material too
