As you probably guessed - I think that the Fiamma is the best rack I have come across - ( it is also compatible with the Fiamma backboxes when you are not using it as a bike rack) but - like all of the durable / sturdy racks it probably still needs to have the struts uprating if you want the rear hatch to stay up properly with the rack fitted. An alternative , cheap solution is to carry a telescopic alluminium pole ( like a walking stick )
Origo bio stove - no Bongo!

Corblimey - That's useful. Will let you know how I get on. Unfortunately the rack has just dropped down the priority list since the nice spring that appeared at the bottom of my garden has turned out to originate from a water supply pipe joint under the concrete of my heavy duty 10 x 8 shed. The main priority now is dismantling said shed & concrete to access the pipe before the whole joint blows & disconnects me and (more importantly :!: ) my 3 neighbours.

Mountaingoat - Thanks for the tip.

Major - no worries & no offence taken :) I assumed that the PM had got mislaid or deleted somehow.

Fitting Kit

Post by verges » Thu Mar 27, 2008 11:05 pm

Hi Corblimey,

I was wondering if you managed to find out which fitting kit you had for the Thule bike rack?

After looking at the photos you posted it looks like the one to get - no cutting the spoiler :D

Hi Verges

Just checked the invoice and the part # says t/97302 so I assume it's the 973-02 kit.

Quickly crossed reffed with the Thule site and the instructions for 973-02 are the same I as the set I have so defo 973-02 kit.

Tried it tonight for the first time and it's spot on. The only thing I'd say is that the tyre straps are not very generous so I'll need to replace them with a set of toe straps.
