Is turbo on the menu

Post by Nashers » Sat Mar 22, 2008 4:51 pm

Hi to the gurus out there. How can I check whether my turbocharger is up to scratch? There's no squealing or fumes but she does struggle uphill somewhat. Thank you.

There's a little rubber pipe that goes from the turbo
to the injection pump check if it's connected they are
often off and if it's not on the pump does not inject
enough fuel when the turbo is working.

With the engine off

Take off the inlet hose, see how much play is in the bearing shaft, about 1mm is normal, if more it may be bearing time. If you can see score marks on the inner housing or its rattling round its foobarred.

Thanks for all the advice on this one. Bongo is also going in for new coolant hoses very soon and I will talk to the mechanic. Brilliant stuff. :P
