Wheel bearings

Post by glynreaper » Wed Mar 19, 2008 1:48 pm

Hi did you find out if it was the wheel bearing?

I have a similar issue but its more of a grumbling noise and its noticeable over 30mph

Taken it to a couple of garages one said it was the bearing one said it was the diff :(

Weird - I thought I'd replied to this earlier today....

One question: to whom are you addressing this???

If it's me ('cos I've got a strange noise coming from the back of the van) then fine - I have a noise that can be described as a shuz-shuz-shuz-shuz kind of thing (frequency increases with speed, and is louder when drive-train not loaded, i.e. when coasting, not when accelerating) not really noticeable above 30 mph.

Local garage reckon it's the rear diff - I wonder if it's the prop shaft....

With out removing the prop shaft, is there any easy way of diagnosing exactly what's wrong???
