i like the idea that the rears are larger - makesme think i have an F1 bongo !

the reason for having directions on tyres, is to do with the grooves for dispersing water.....

so you could probably swap them round (on a dry day) to see if the wobble stops....

but would mean you'd have to change them all then change them back, so I guess only really to be done if loads of wear left on the tyres

Thanks BigDaddy - v interesting to know. Until we all used the same reliable yardstick (and assuming the odometer may be out by a similar amount) it makes it hard to have a meaningful debate about MPG. All each owner can do is observe relative improvement in their own vehicle as they make modifications etc.

how does the directional grip work then?

when I had tyres fitted, the tyre guy said it was just about the grooves

they are fitted right anyway,

they surely must grip in both directions? but maybe wear more in one direction?

this could ruin my plans

.... got a spare alloy and thought I'd put a matching tyre to the others... at worst I could get it swapped round by any tyre place, but wouldn't get stuck waiting for a tyre..... if I can't drive it carefully with the direction wrong... that's out the window! D'oh

Don't want to put a expensive pirelli on it!!!!

I beleive it has something to do with the tyre design john, i'm no expert, but the different shapes of the grip pattern dictate the amount of grip available at different cornering situations,a mechanic noticed that one of my directional tyres was the wrong way round a few years back,he said it would wear really quickly,and i'd get great grip on that corner in reverse!

Dunno if there was owt to it....?
