Help please Rev counter/ Gear box fault I think!!!!!!!

Post by Toecutter » Sun Mar 02, 2008 5:18 pm

Rev counter behaving erratically has been fluctuating then dropping to zero which is causing the hold light to flash having looked at the bongo fury fact sheets I did as suggested and bridged the two terminals on the diagnostic block which resulted in a code fault number 6 which is output speed sensor. I am confused and would be grateful of any suggestions because according to fact sheets and all the posts I have read it is normally the speedo that drops to zero. If it is indeed the speed sensor does anybody know where it is located in the gearbox and where I could purchase one. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as I need to sort this fault asap as we are travelling to Ireland in it for a week at Easter. Thanks in advance Jay :D

the speedo chip that some people attach at the back of the clocks can cause these types of faults, check if yours is fitted with one.

I don't have a speedo chip fitted but why would this interfere with the rev counter? I don't have a problem with the speedo it is the rev counter it drops to zero and hold light flashes!

Don't know about the Bongo but some cars use
a led system to read the revs of the engine usually
from the flywheel, if they give problems a wipe
with a clean rag often fixes it maybe the Bongo
is the same.

Mine used to do that i changed the throtle positioning sensor (under the drivers seat) mine had 466 on it. Just try some spary contact cleaner first to see if it makes a difference.

When i disconnected the temp sensor connection for the glowplugs the revcounter and hold light flashed. Maybe best to give the wiring connector blocks a wiggle/clean
